aranceri della morte

This project explores two different creative directions developed for Aranceri della Morte, one of the historic orange throwing teams of the Ivrea Carnival,
as proposals for the team's 2026 visual identity and coordinated communication. Deeply rooted in local tradition, the Ivrea Carnival is more than a celebration, it's a centuries old symbol of rebellion, freedom and collective identity. During Carnival, the streets of Ivrea come alive with this spirit, transforming the city into a place where history, community and ritual merge. Founded in 1954 in the San Grato district, the Aranceri della Morte now brings together more than two thousand members. As both a designer and social media manager for the team's Instagram page, I had the opportunity to reinterpret its visual identity through two distinct concepts.

CREATIVE DIRECTION AND MOODBOARD:

The first proposal, The Veiled Death, unfolds as a visual narrative revealed step by step. At its centre is the heart, the symbol of the San Grato district, drawn from the chest of Death as a tribute to the bond passed from one generation to the next. Throughout the campaign, only fragments of the figure are revealed—hands, the heart and symbolic details appear across scarves, membership cards and merchandise, while the complete image emerges only during the traditional unveiling of the flags in the town square. It is in that moment that Death fully reveals itself, ready to stand alongside the team in the Battle.

The second proposal takes a more contemporary approach, placing typography at the centre of the visual identity. Here, Death is never hidden, but transformed into a constant and contemplative presence.
Not as a symbol of fear, but as an invitation to look inward, confront oneself and embrace the strength that lies beneath the surface.
